The Gorge's severe geography and the abrupt precipitation change due to the Cascade Mountains creates beautifully diverse hiking opportunities.

The Nation Scenic Area has many hiking trails.

The U.S. Geological Survey - Cascades Volcano Observatory lists various Mount St. Helens hikes.

Taylor is fond of Dog Mountain. We have also greatly enjoyed Mount Defiance and the nearby bluffs to the East of Lyle.
